is proud to present our Fall Contest for our members!

Our Theme is:

Local folklore!

Now, that means that you can depict nearly everything that is special and traditional in the area where you live: old tales, celebrations, a certain place with a story, etc.
This excludes non-local folklore. As an example: Works showing the ancient greek pantheon (Zeus & Co) will not be accepted - unless you depict a story that connects them to your home.

You want to participate, but have not yet an idea what to do? Here are some ideas:

Ask your family, neighbours and other local people whether they know something interesting!

Is there an annual celebration where you live? Show us how people celebrate it!

How are important stages in life (birth, marriage, birthdays,...) celebrated at your place?

Do you know any myths that are told in your area? Faeries, giants and other ancient beings make great tales you can tell!

Or maybe you live near an old castle or any other scary places? We all love ghost stories!

And let's not forget our urban legends! What if crocodiles really ARE living in the sewers.....

You're not sure if your idea fits into the theme? Just write a note (to the group or Elveanna) and we'll help you out

WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOUR ENTRIES

First impression: The attractive work of art clearly reproduced, that is!!

Creativity and originality: A fresh line of imagination in an extraordinary manner, please add your own vision to it!

The story: Although a picture can tell a thousand words, the written story will also help us get what you're trying to tell. A link to the area/leagend/story is good, too.

RULES

Only members of T-A can participate. (to join: traditional-artists.deviantart… )

One entry per person

The entry must be new and specifically made for the contest.

The entrant must follow dA AND T-A rules.

This is a group of traditional artists, so ONLY traditional art is allowed in this contest.

Please tell the story behind your picture in the artist's comment! But don't just make-up your own story This about sharing local folklore with the larger comunity- so link to the legend/tale/story when you can to prove that people in your area know it, too.

All stocks/references used must be credited AND shown via thumbnail or link if they are from DA.

All media used must be listed- including any computer 'tweeks'. (and remember your T-A submissions rules!)

Submission deadline is the 14th of November, 2010, 24:00- DA time.

Donors can enter the contest as well. Judges cannot.

Only submissions via note with 'CONTEST' in the title will be accepted.

SUBMISSIONS

To make it easier for us to check whether your entry really fits into the rules, we will only accept entries that are submitted via a note to the group!
With more than 400 submissions a week it's hard enough to keep control over our message cente, so this will be safer, easier to control and probably even quicker!
