My take on the "Surreal Darkness" theme:
Darkness is all around us, it is the night itself, it is the deep parts of our souls, it is the boogyman at night, it is the recesses of our psyche. I wanted to paint something that could be all these things at once, while still telling a story of the darkness. Surreal Darkness, it can be imagined or tanagble, or a fleeting moment between the two. I think i show that here- what is real? The woman in the back, or is she a product of the dark-haired girl's mind? Which is more dangerous? Which woman is more threatening? There are many ways to interperate 'Surreal Darkness'- and their are many ways to interperate this painting.

For the tecnical:
This one was very different for me. Still oil, still illistration board- but a lot more hours, as i actually took my time and did not whine. This is part of my 'stepping it up' new-life-style and for once, i can't complain about it's outcome. This is just what i wanted it to be. Salute.
(on a side note, pewter is hard, skulls are hard and mist-women are hard. ugh.)

Most exquisitely excellent a portrait to portray the theme. Gives me such an overwhelming feeling of a Lass who may well have gotten into things way over her head and is now trapped in a nebulous wicked web of her own making. In the alternate universe of the surreal deal it seems that things may now be spinning out of control beyond the plot that she had originally planned. Even her inner demons maybe have taken on a life of their own as they secretly entreat us in the audience not to tell. In her own carefully created and controlled surreality she casts us a look of a Lady who is entirely entrancing and completely in command, yet, her cup of cunning has runeth over and perhaps she will be the one soon wonder if she is, or is not under some kind of spell.
