I very very rarely go back to paintings that i've already declared done, but the particular one for some reason stuck in my head very strongly recently, and i just HAD to. I was never happy with his face- it looked too dirty, and the eyes were violet, rather than my usual blue i tend to paint Ryan's as. So, i went in to fix the face and ended up fixed the skin tones for both of them. I'll have an even better Image soon, lacking flash-glare, but for now, hope ya enjoy. :)

This one is of Ryan and Nari of book one again, and OMG it was HARD! I’ve actually been sitting on it for over a year, and it’s got to be one of the hardest character portraits I have ever done! I’m not totally happy with it, but at this point, I am just done :faint:

Forgive the horrible flash-glare. I hate my camera :shakefist:

I can definitely see how this would be quite a challenge to pull off. There are so many different elements here!

To begin, I like the different colors you've used here: the colors in the stone, particularly work really well. So many people just use gray, and having grown up seeing quarries, very few stone walls are all one color! I will say that, the very bright and vibrant blue seems almost out of place considering all of the forest tones in the rest of this piece. It makes me wonder if perhaps he's of a higher station?

On to some of the things that seem a little off (I know you can't fix them now, but maybe you can keep these in mind in the future.)

Her pose in particular must have been a pain to figure out. Her right forearm looks a little too long here.. I think the elbow should have been further down? Also, her face looks a little squashed almost. I know that's probably the angle of the image, though.

Also, his hair seemed a bit flat on the left side of his head. Even when your hair's slicked back, there should be some slight height difference between the side of your head and the edge of your hair.

I think that's all I can think of for now! I hope this was helpful; I don't tend to critique all that much, but since you'd requested it here!
